Change Default Font in Google Docs

In Google Docs, the default font style is Arial, and the font size is 11. But using the same font every time is quite a boring thing to do. So here, you can change the default font in Google Docs if you want to make your text different than others.

In this tutorial, we will look at the two methods to change the default font.

Change the Default Font using the Format option

You can change the default font from the Format Tab. Below are the steps for this.

  1. First, open the blank document or open an existing one.
  2. If it is a blank document, then add text to it.
  3. After that, select the text, either a portion or the entire text of the document.

  10. To make sure that the modifications have been saved. Click on File and then select New and Document to open a new document in a new tab.
  11. In this new document, you will find the same default font, size, and formatting style you have selected before.

Point to remember: These changes apply to your future documents only. Your past documents’ font style, size, and spacing will remain the same.

Change the Default Font using the Normal Text option

This method is quite easier to use if you are new to Google Docs. Follow these steps to change the default font.

  1. Open the Google Docs and type the text in it of your choice.
  2. Highlight the text and select the font style you want to set as a default font.
  3. After that, click on the Normal text drop-down and select the update normal text to match.
