Flip Text in Google Docs

Using the drawing tool, Google Docs allows you to flip or rotate the text. And you can do it in two ways:

  • Vertically
  • Horizontally

While rotating, you also have two clockwise and anti-clockwise by 90 degrees.

In this tutorial, we will learn the two methods to flip the text using the drawing window and word art.

Flip Text using the Drawing Tool

You can flip your text using the drawing tool with the help of the following steps.

  1. First, go to the Insert tab, hover over the Drawing tool, and select New.
  2. After that, click on the Text box option with the letter “T” right next to the shape option.
  3. Then, it allows you to drag the cursor to draw the text box in the drawing tool.
  4. Now, enter your text and select and drag the blue icons to resize your text box.
  5. You can rotate your text box from the top blue box.
  6. Another way to flip the text is by clicking on the Actions Tab and selecting the Rotate option from the drop-down.
  7. From this, choose to flip or rotate your text vertically, horizontally, clockwise, and anti-clockwise by 90 degrees.
  8. After flipping your text, click the Save and Close button to insert it into Google Docs.

Flipping Text using Word Art

Word Art is an advanced tool for designing the cover page and making assignments and presentations. You can flip the text using word art in the Drawing window. Here, below are the steps to do this.

  1. Go to Insert>Drawing>New.
  2. Next, click on the Actions tab drop-down and hover over WordArt.
  3. Now, the drawing window shows you the text box to add text that you want to flip.
  4. Press the enter key to add it to the drawing window, and you can resize your text.
  5. Select the word art text box and right-click on it to select the rotate, then click on any option for flipping the text.
  6. In the end, click the save and close option to add it to the main page.

Customize the Text

You can also customize the text by changing its border, font, color, and size.

  1. Select the text and click on Edit from the below menu.
  2. Now, it takes you back to the drawing window to customize the text.
  3. Here, you need to select the text and click on the above fill color option to pick the desired color.
  4. Similarly, you can change the border color, weight, and style from the above formatting options.
  5. Once you make all the changes, click the save and close option.
