Add/Type Degree Symbol in Google Docs

The degree symbol is used in mathematical calculations to measure the temperature and angles. But the keyboard has no key to insert this symbol directly. Instead, you can insert it in Google Docs using the Insert tab and with the combination of keys.

Add Degree Symbol Using Insert Option

You can insert the degree symbol using the special characters. Below are the steps for this.

  1. First, place the cursor where you want to insert the degree symbol.
  2. After that, click the Insert tab and hover over the special character’s option.

  3. Now, the special characters dialog box will appear in Google Docs.

  5. Alternatively, click on the Arrows drop-down and select the Miscellaneous category from the list of options.

  6. Next, click the degree symbol, and your degree symbol will appear on it.

Copy and Paste the Degree Symbol

The easiest way to add the degree symbol to Google Docs is by copying and pasting it.

  1. Copy the degree symbol from a web page on the internet or any other document.
  2. Then, position the cursor where you want to insert the degree symbol.
  3. And finally, paste it.

Add Degree Symbol using the Keyboard Shortcut

You cannot insert the degree symbol directly in Google Docs, as the keyboard has no single key. But you can add it by the below combination of keys.

Alt + 0 1 7 6

  1. Click on the place where you want to insert the degree symbol.
  2. Now, hold the Alt key and press 0176 from the numeric keypad.

Note: This keyboard shortcut only works when you have 10 keys of the numeric keypad on your keyboard. If these numeric keys are unavailable, press the Num Lock key to enable it first.

After that, use this keyboard shortcut to add the symbol and copy and paste it for further use.
